There is no universally accepted standard for sizing fingers. Chances are that if you came to this page, you either reside overseas or need to tell someone overseas your finger size. Apart from our own sizing system here in the US, there are many others. The British have a system that is used through many of the Commonwealth countries like Australia and New Zealand. Continental Europe has at least three different systems that are used. Asia uses one main sizing system but that is by no means the only one. Brazil uses a unique system that does not correlate with US sizes easily. This is by no means a comprehensive list.
If you are in some far flung corner of the world needing to know your finger size, chances are good that your local system uses one of these systems.
If you unsure, follow these steps.
1. Measure the finger using local ring sizing gauges.
2. Ask for the diameter measurement of the sizing gauge with which you were sized. (see diagram)
3. Go to the Metric conversion page and use the German size system to convert your diameter measurement to an US ring size.
