Welding is a process whereby two types of metal are joined by heating them to a point of melting and then being allowed to refreeze resulting in a single fused piece of metal. Frequently, an additional third material is added to the join. The method of heating the material to produce the weld varies from industry to industry.
A new type of welding technology has become commercially available whereby a laser beam is used to melt the metals to form a weld. The laser welder is unique to other standard welding processes, as it delivers an instant pulse of high intensity heat, that is highly localized and limited to a very small work area.
